Fan NOT Made To Be Used In All Dell Models Listed.Nov 11, 2011
By One-Shot Scot
My Dell Dimension 4600 shares the same case fan as several of the models mentioned in this listing. My Dell Dimension 4600 can use any 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" x 1 1/2" Dell case fan as long as it is rated at least 0.68 amp. This fan is rated at 0.56 amp and when it is installed it creates a "fan out of range" error message.
The fan in this listing measures 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" x 1", so it is 1/2" thinner than the original Dell fan plus, it's connection cord is only 5 1/2" long while the original fan cord length is 8". The fan in this listing is much noisier than the original Dell fan which measures 1 1/2" deep.
This may very well be an "original Dell replacement CPU case fan" but it is definitely NOT the same fan that came with all of the Dell models listed. Be sure that your original Dell case fan specifications match the specifications of the "one size supposedly fits all" fan listed here.

good fan, short cordAug 31, 2011
I bought this fan for my Dell Dimension 8200. The fan works fine but the cord is much shorter than the one on the original fan. I was able to install the new fan but the cord is too short and it is pulling the socket. So far the socket is holding.

Wrong partMay 26, 2011
By Jim A Fitch
This fan does not replace W0101. It has a smaller motor (.5A instead of 2A) and is not recognized by the BIOS (sensor value out of range).

Should have listened to other reviewers!!!Mar 21, 2012
"Alive by the grace of God (and Karen)"
Having Type I Diabetes for 35 years, Chronic Kidney Disease and Stage III Renal Failure many times keeps me from completing jobs immediately. Between those 3 ailments, a lot of days I can't even get out of bed. So when I ordered this fan because of the description "genuine Dell replacement," I made the capital error of "assuming" it was just that.
As it turns out, the dadgum power cord is two (2"!!) inches shorter than the power cord on the original unit!!!! To me, that is BLATANT misrepresentation of product!!! It might fit other Dell machines but it DOES NOT work on the Dimension 4550, as promised!!!
Even though I read a couple of reviews complaining that the power cord was too short, I ordered the flippin' thing anyway. Now I'm sitting here in contemplation of splicing in some extra wire from the old fan! I know that's not the wisest choice I could make. After thinking long and hard about it, and since I can, I have decided to return the stupid thing for a refund.
The best thing that came out of this whole debacle is that there's a 30 day return option on Amazon Prime. Now, I'm back to searching for a replacement fan for the 4550! I WILL, however, ask for the power cord length specification before I order another one!

The fan is not a replacement for 8200Jul 30, 2012
1. Installed in my Dell Dimension 8200 computer but shows a "fan out of range" error message on boot up.
2. Installed in my Dell Dimension 8200 computer. The cord is much shorter than the one on the original fan. I was able to install the new fan but the cord is too short and it is pulling the socket.
3. Too much frustration with a simple fan replacement.
4. Should return this item.
